Are they harvesting oats?

No it's spring barley they are harvesting, the variety of crop it is makes look like oats. I'm not sure what type it is though.

I heard that John Deere combines are better than Claas ones, is that true?

Added by Tom Stirling on 18 June 2010.
no thats false, john deere make ok tractors and mowers but everything else they make is rubbish.

Tom, the problem with JD at the moment is the price, the pound is weak and spares are horrendous, although its a brilliant service. Calum is right and the older machines hold their price well. If you want anything below the 60hp mark though don't go for JD. All their branded machines are made by Yanmar and Kawasaki. Save money, I did, by going for a used Yanmar. Its the same machine and you can buy a low hours grey market one for half the price of a JD.
