The MF2130 is a very very rare (less than 50 sold) tractor it is a semi-industrial version of the MF130 I have a 2130 myself and spent 2 years researching what it was there is very little information out there about them. In France it was called a MF130 municipal tractor it was only badged 2130 in the UK. The basic tractor was built in France but was transformed into an industrial/highway spec at MF's Manchester plant. It was only made from 1966-68 - this one has incorrect decals on it as the number should be at the front end, same as all other 100 series MF tractors.
As a retired Massey Ferguson Industrial Plant fitter, I agree with you on the decal point, the other side is also wrong, it seems that the correct decals were applied, but to the wrong sides of the tractor. During my term as a fitter I have never seen one of these, it seems to be a bit of an austerity machine, we only sold the MF 2135 (later badged MF20) tractors along with the full comlpiment of light and heavy Massey Ferguson Industrial range. On the agricutrial side the MF130 is also a bit of a rarity in the South West of England with our agricultiral divison not having sold many again the MF 135 was the chosen preference by farmers down here.
Hello Mike just like the 2135 the 2130 has duel brakes, foot throttle, a speedo and a tacho, front bumper/weight frame, drawbar more like a 135 gearing is different lighting is to full highway spec Indicators ect, all the normal tractor electrics are french but the extra bits are all Lucas along with the extra wiring loom in British standard colours. I have a scan of a sales leaflet for the 2130 sent to me by a man who worked in marketing/sales at MF Manchester plant later Fermec now Terex. It shows the tractor in yellow but says it could be had in red/grey (mine is a red one) at no extra cost. I also had but have now sold a MF130 from 1965 - when stood next to the 2130 many bits are not the same
I was wondering if anyone knows the serial # identification on these tractors. There is one being sold Friday 8/13/2010 at public auction with no mfg. date. Serial # is 452659. Tractor photo is posted on www.martinsauctionservice.com . Looks like a nice one to me.
At M-F Dealers Avon Valley Tractors we did our best for several 130/2130s in the '80s but parts availability was very weak even then. Sold very few new & never knew 2130 so rare. 130 was an "oddball" from the outset having little commonality with the other 100s.
